Finally created a blog
So I've heard a lot about blogging and even frequent a few blogs and photoblogs, and agree that this is an incredible tool for allowing people to communicate. However, I resisted the peer pressure of the masses. I don't have time to create, let alone maintain, a blog. Besides, who would read what I wrote? It's not that I have a political rant to go on, or some intimate knowledge of a niche hobby, or inside information about NHL hockey rumors. I'm just a normal dude who can't decide on one hobby. No, a blog was not for me.
But this past Tuesday I went to a presentation down at Stanford University put on by VLAB, in which the various speakers were talking about User Generated Content. The creator of Blogger, Evan Williams, was speaking on this topic, using the discussion point of his new company Odeo. At one point he was discussing the psychology of bloggers (and podcasters) and felt that many creators using these mediums do not have a desire to be unique or well-visited, but just want to log their thoughts or communicate with friends. Inspired by Evan's comments, in a mad dash of enthusiasm, I decided to start a blog. I downloaded Moveable Type (so I have more flexibility and storage space than Blogger) from Six Apart and here we go!
Please feel free to comment, and welcome to my blog!
