End of an Era

Today was the end of the Greenspan Era, an amazing run for the US economy under an incredible "Maestro". Some people find a way to criticize Alan Greenspan, but I am a huge fan of his philosophy and foresight. He is someone who is strong enough to choose the unpopular yet correct thing to do, while taking advice from others and changing his course when necessary. I consider him up with Soros for his incredible ability of understanding where the economy is going.

I've read a biography on Greenspan that I'd recommend, although it's the only one I've read so I can't speak to it's authority: Greenspan: The Man Behind Money. Some interesting facts from this book were that Greenspan travelled with a jazz band in his early days, was in Ayn Rand's inner circle in her heyday, dated Barbara Walters and is married to Andrea Mitchell, and owned his own economics consulting firm before his career in Washington.
